Hilton Partners With Foursquare to Give You Tips From Locals on Your Next Trip
Travelers who have a confirmed booking with a Hilton property will be able to use the Hilton Honors app to receive recommendations on everything
Travelers staying at Hilton’s properties will now have a new way to get recommendations during their stays.
Hilton is partnering with Foursquare to offer its guests a new location-based feature called "Explore" in the Hilton Honors app that will provide travelers with recommendations from local experts on the best activities and spots to discover near their hotel.
Starting on Sep. 12, travelers who have a confirmed booking with a Hilton property will be able to use the Hilton Honors app to receive recommendations on everything from the top restaurants to the most popular activities and destinations to see during their stay.
Each recommendation includes personalized tips like the best menu items to try at restaurants, the optimal times to visit locations based on what you're looking for, and photos of what to expect. Foursquare’s technology also allows users to see details like each location’s hours of operations and some of the most popular dishes at eateries.
Users will also be able to tap into the feature and save recommendations into a favorite folder to create an itinerary before arriving, with suggestions available across various categories that range from family-friendly stops to ideal locations for business dinners or romantic locales for couples.
The new feature is currently available in 29 different markets that include U.S. cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, and Los Angeles, and global stops like London and Rome. Hilton plans to expand the offering to additional markets down the line.
You'll need to be a Hilton Honors member to use the new feature. Signing up for the loyalty program is free and gives you access to additional benefits that include discounts on stays, free Wi-Fi, digital check-in, and the opportunity to earn points during each stay.
The addition is the latest of several new features to hit Hilton’s Honors app, including the ability to tap into "connected room" properties at the hotel and control everything from the rooms’ temperature and lighting to opening and closing window drapes straight through the app.
The hotel brand is even considering using its connected room technology to reward guests each time they shut off their room's lights as part of its larger initiative to cut its environmental footprint in half across its more than 5,300 properties by 2030.
